A Fort Worth native, Courtney earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Immunology and Microbiology and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Before focusing on ENT, she gained valuable experience in urgent care and emergency medicine, sharpening her diagnostic and clinical skills across a wide range of conditions.

Education

  • Dr. DeFreitas completed his medical education at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1984. He continued with an internship at Lankenau Hospital, followed by a residency in otolaryngology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

  • During his time there, he served as Chief Resident and received the prestigious Teaching Resident Award. His clinical work in temporal bone surgery earned additional recognition for its excellence and innovation.
